I didn’t die. Instead, I continued to live and get sick throughout my pregnancy. Because when you’re pregnant with a toddler, everything is ten times more difficult than when you’re not pregnant with a toddler.
sick (again)
When I was pregnant with my now 2 year old, I never got sick. Not once! But when you have toddlers who attend kindergartens and daycares (bacteriological factories that send children so they can work for a few hours), never again will you have the luxury of not getting mild illnesses all the time. It’s strange that I haven’t been able to get out of bed since September.
sleepy? what’s that?
In my first pregnancy, I had mild gestational insomnia. But don’t worry! I was able to go to bed early if needed and get some sleep. And even if I didn’t get enough sleep during the week, at least I was able to catch up on the weekends.
If you have a 2 year old, especially one like me, you will never be able to catch up on sleep if you think the morning starts at 5:13 am every day. If you don’t have time to get up at night, early in the morning, and nap during the day, you won’t get the nine hours of sleep recommended for pregnant women unless you book into a hotel for nine months.
pick things up from the floor
Whether you have a toddler or not, picking things up off the floor can be difficult when you’re pregnant. The difference is that there are many more Pick me up when you have an infant. Lego, hot wheels, dollhouse furniture and Teddy Graham crumbs. Possibilities are endless, but lower back muscle support isn’t.
morning sickness
I had morning sickness in both pregnancies, but only one of them had a little one jump into the bathroom while throwing up for blueberries. I don’t.They are snackThey may also see your hunched state as a perfect opportunity to get on your back and piggyback.
heavy lifting
Do not lift heavy objects during pregnancy. This is fairly easy to accomplish the first time, but the next time you have something heavy in your house, you will always have to lift a fair amount. Sometimes yelling, kicking, and yelling, “But I don’t want to leave the park.”
park
Before I got pregnant, I didn’t mind taking my toddler to the park. But there’s literally nothing worse than standing in the sun with your child on a swing trying not to barf in front of other kids on the playground. Until you ask them to go down the slide. I spend most of my time in the park trying to convince my toddler how fun it is to lie in a sandbox and eat goldfish.
Emotions as big as your toddler
It’s hard to teach toddlers how to manage their big emotions when they want to cry, yell, and scream every time they realize they’ve run out of ice cream. I couldn’t stop crying because it was gone. Late at night, I couldn’t stop crying because the baby was living inside my body and apparently using my gut like a drawstring. City bus. (At least it felt that way.) And there was still no ice cream.

have to go to a place and do something
Toddlers love to go places and do things. My toddler requires us to leave the house several times a day to do something. As a pregnant person who can barely walk two blocks without being out of breath, this doesn’t suit me. We have to go to the zoo, museum or park.
Toddlers aren’t big fans of what I spent most of my first pregnancy watching, lying on the couch crownMy toddler doesn’t even know what the British monarchy is. When you’re pregnant, you can lie on the couch and watch TV with your toddler, but it’s all about animals and cars and you can’t enjoy it.Unless I can persuade you to look Bluey.
One advantage is that you and your toddler are more likely to eat the same food.
Mac and cheese, French fries, or pizza every meal? You and your toddler will agree that this is the perfect way to eat. And let’s eat ice cream.
Being pregnant with a toddler is definitely not a picnic. You may have to attend a picnic, but it will be full of other toddlers and will probably make you sick. After a month it will all be over and you can finally relax. With just a newborn and a toddler, it’s probably a lot easier.
