Miramar police identify suspect accused of beating pregnant woman in IHOP parking lot


Miramar, Florida – A man accused of beating a pregnant woman Thursday in the parking lot of IHOP in Miramar has been identified as Ayyed Fanus by police.

Authorities said Fanus, 23, “brutally beat” the victim in a parking lot at 7990 Miramar Parkway.

Police said officers were on the scene just before 12:50 pm and Fanus fled the scene and headed for nearby 7800 Granada Avenue.

Officials said Fanus was hiding outside the house, at which time the Miramar SWAT team also responded to the area.

Homeowner Arnel Rabel told Local 10 News reporter Liane Morejon that the suspect was hiding on his property but did not appear to have attempted to break into his home at any point. rice field.

After a standoff with police, Fanus, who said the officers were armed with guns, eventually surrendered.

He is charged with deteriorating batteries, violating an injunction, obstructing (by taking away communications), resisting police officers without violence, and carrying a concealed firearm.
