A first-of-its-kind mobile app has been launched to support pregnant women with information from NHS professionals.
The Pregnancy Foodwise app includes recipes, shopping tips, a meal planner, and six self-paced sections for step-by-step exercises that are perfect for pregnancy.
The app also lets you set pregnancy goals, track your food and exercise, and take advantage of interactive games, quizzes, and tools.
Public Health Dietitian Andrea Bass and nutritionist colleagues at the Betsy Cadwalladre University Health Board (BCUHB) were made up of nutritionists and nutritionists from health boards across Wales to assist in the planning, development and review of content. We have worked with Nutrition Skills for Life, an organization that for the app.
The release of the app is timely as it responds to the Insights research work within North Wales led by Public Health Wales.
The survey highlighted that both pregnant women and midwives appreciate apps that provide quick and easy access to up-to-date information on important topics such as food and nutrition.
Andrea Basu, Services Lead for Public Health Nutrition at BCUHB, said:

“As nutritionists, we bring together accurate, unbiased information in one place, giving women access to advice on nutrition, physical activity and healthy weight at the push of a button to help them navigate a healthy pregnancy journey. I hope we can support you.”
